IRENA
International Renewable Energy Agency
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, with a specific focus on renewable energy. In 2019, the IEA and IRENA further enhanced existing cooperative efforts between the two organisations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding that builds upon a previous agreement signed in 2012.
The two agencies have a long-standing collaboration on data and statistics, renewable energy technology costs, and renewable policies. In this regard, they have developed and maintained a joint database of renewable energy policies and measures.
Other cooperative efforts include data sharing, SDG7 tracking, energy efficiency, and a range of related activities under the Clean Energy Ministerial and the IEA Technology Collaboration Programme.
