IEA at COP28: The first fuel revolution – Accelerating energy efficiency for a sustainable future

Energy efficiency plays a critical and central role in cost-effective decarbonisation efforts in all economies. Unlocking its true potential is therefore critical to achieving a sustainable future. To accelerate progress on the clean energy transition this decade, it is essential to use the market-ready technologies available to all countries, as well as to improve processes in industry, services, and other sectors of the economy. Energy efficiency is relevant to all sectors of the economy. They can all benefit from using energy in a way that preserves - and even improves - results and outputs, but in a more efficient way. Industry, buildings, transport, agriculture, services, and others could all reap the multiple benefits of energy efficiency.
In this event, we will look at policy developments, financial support and the challenges and opportunities in promoting energy efficiency in the EU and beyond.
