Unlocking Manufacturing Opportunities in Emerging Markets Webinar
Background information
Emerging and developing economies in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia account for less than 5% of the value generated from producing clean technologies today. But a fair and just transition requires enabling more regions to reap the economic benefits of the growing supply chains for clean and modern energy technologies, and there are opportunities for countries in these regions to move up the value chain.
This webinar will present the key drivers of manufacturing investments based on innovative new analysis undertaken for Energy Technology Perspectives 2024, the latest edition of the IEA’s flagship technology publication. The report maps out the evolving role of manufacturing and international trade in clean energy technologies and related materials, with the aim of supporting decision-making in these areas.
Authors of the report will present an overview of factors shaping manufacturing investments in emerging markets, drawing on country-level data across more than 60 indicators to identify specific opportunities for emerging markets to move up the value chain. It will include analysis of major opportunities across countries in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia. Attendees will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions.
