IEA Electricity Security workshop

Workshop — Paris, France

Background

The International Energy Agency is hosting a high-level workshop on Electricity Security on Tuesday, 28 January 2020, in Paris, France.

Electricity security needs to be a key consideration when striving for cleaner and more affordable electricity access. As the IEA is developing a dedicated report on Electricity Security, to be launched in September 2020, this workshop aims to capture input from various stakeholders and to identify common as well as diverging views.

The event will be organised around three areas that we believe particularly challenging :

  • The energy transition impact of decentralization, renewables and fossil phase-out on short term stability and long-term system adequacy,
  • Trends in cybersecurity, and
  • Resilience to climatic trends and extreme weather events.

The workshop will convene a diverse and international group of senior policymakers, industry representatives, experts and other major stakeholders.

Additional information

It will be held under the Chatham House Rule. Attendance is by invitation only.
