Accelerating energy efficiency in industrial SMEs
Background
The workshop is an opportunity to discuss experiences, proven and innovative practices in how policy makers and other stakeholders including finance institutions and industry associations can stimulate and facilitate energy efficiency implementation in SMEs. The workshop will constitute an important input to our planned Policy Pathway on this topic (to be published in 2015).
The Policy Pathway will provide actionable guidance, examples of policies and measures and case studies. We are currently in the process of identifying examples of effective and innovative approaches to supporting SME energy efficiency (including policies, support, financial mechanisms, supply chain activities). Please find in attachment a preliminary draft agenda intended to provide you with an overview of the types of topics that will be covered.
The draft agenda lists presenters and also has a list of 'discussants' for each session. We have grouped participants into sessions as discussants based on their expertise or perspectives, in order to give you the opportunity to reflect on specific areas of SME energy efficiency and tailor your contributions accordingly. To make this as straightforward as possible, we have also listed questions that we are hoping to answer in each section. A good way to prepare for your roles as discussants would be to look at the questions for your assigned session and think about answers that relate to your work with SMEs.
Having said that, we hope that all participants will contribute their ideas and suggestions to any session as they see fit. The discussant groupings are simply our attempt at allowing participants to understand how we think their expertise or particular view point can best contribute to discussions on key aspects of the Policy Pathway document, and to reflect on this ahead of time. Please let us know if you feel that you would rather be a discussant in a different session. We will be sending out a draft of the Policy Pathway for your review at least one week before the workshop.
