Climate decree

In order to comply with the EU directive 2008/50/EC on air quality, Italy has adopted the "climate decree". It contains several different measures aiming at improving air quality, reducing waste and improving soil quality.

 

Measures aimed at increasing urban air quality include:

  • direct subsidies for cities to increase urban vegetation;
  • a grant of 500€ for individuals to scrap inefficient cars or two wheelers that can be used towards the cost of purchase public transport and/or electric bikes; and
  • support to increase the introduction of electric school buses.
