Conservation of Fuel and Energy: Buildings other than Dwellings (2011)

Last updated: 5 April 2024

Technical Guidance Documents are published to accompany each part of the Building Regulations indicating how the requirements of that part can be achieved in practice. The 2011 version provides guidance in relation to the application of Part L of the Second Schedule to the Regulations as inserted by the Building Regulations (Part L  Amendment) Regulations 2011 (S.I. No. 259 of 2011). The guidance in this document applies to dwellings, both new and existing.

Adherence to the approach outlined in a Technical Guidance Document is regarded, as evidence of compliance with the requirements of the relevant part of the Building Regulations.

Primary responsibility for compliance with the requirements of the Building Regulations rests with the designers, builders and owners of buildings.

The 2005 edition added requirements for limiting the emissions of CO2. It also partly transposes the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive - EPBD (2002/91/EC of 16 December 2002).
