Law 2208/97 for the Sustainable Development of Towns

Last updated: 5 November 2017
Law 2208/97 for the Sustainable Development of Towns seeks to improve land-use planning of urban and rural areas, emphasising the recycling and upgrading of the built space instead of its expansion. The law grants subsidies to local authorities for the rehabilitation of the urban agglomeration, the aesthetic upgrading of buildings, the protection of the environment and the conservation of energy and natural resources.
