National Strategic Plan for the Use of Firewood (Plan Estrategico Nacional Para El Uso Sostenible De La Leña)

The National Forest Institute (INAB) presents the National Strategic Plan for the Use of Firewood to ensure the sustainable production and use of firewood in Guatemala.The main objective is to ensure the provision of firewood for the population by developing local instruments, measures and capacities to enable wood to be produced in a sustainable manner. The plan aims to facilitate the adoption of appropriate technology for the efficient use of firewood, to generate rural non-agricultural employment, while reducing the adverse effects of smoke on human health. The National Strategic Plan for the Use of Firewood has the goal, among the others previously mentioned, of deploying 100,000 efficient woodstoves between 2013 and 2024.
