Biodiesel blending mandate (Decree 1303)
On 17 September 2012 Presidential Decree 1303 was adopted introducing first mandatory 5% biodiesel blending mandate to be fulfilled no later than on 17th of March 2013.
Biodiesel used for the blending must be locally-produced. No imports are allowed.
Sate-owned oil company EP Petroecuador is responsible for storing, blending and distributing biodiesel countrywide.
The prices per gallon of biodiesel is established by the ministry of Production, Employment and Competitiveness.
