In order to seed key solar-related capabilities and lead demand projects in Singapore, 3 programmes which aim to support the partial cost of solar systems purchased and installed by the public sector (CERT), Solar Capability Building Programme (SCBP) and the private sector (SCS) have been launched and are in effect. The programmes focus on supporting systems with innovation technology, utilize pioneering business models, or have a strong capability building aspect.HDB is given a total funding of S$31 million to install solar panels on the rooftops of residential blocks in 30 public housing precincts by 2015. This test-bed will provide useful data to optimise the performance of solar systems in an urbanised tropical environment.

Programmes will last in the following dates:

  • CERT (1 Apr 2007 to 31 Mar 2014)
  • SCS (1 July 2008 to 30 June 2013)
  • Solar Capability Building Programme for Public Housing (2009 to 2015)
