New Renewable Energy Target for 2010
In 1996, Japanese government set a target of around 3% (or 19.1 million kl oil equivalent) of new energies in the total primary energy supply by fiscal year 2010 (excluding hydro electric and geothermal energy). In 2008, this target has been set to be considered as upper case in 2010, and 15.6 million kl oil equivalent is set as a lower case. The 2010 targets for each new energy sourses are as follows (in million kl of oil equivalent):
- PV: lower case target of 0.73 and upper case target of 1.18 (from 0.42 in 2006);
- Wind: lower case target of 1.01 and upper case target of 1.34 (from 0.61 in 2006);
- Waste and Biomass Power Generation: lower case target of 4.49 and upper case target of 5.86 (from 2.91 in 2006);
- Biomass in heat utilisation: lower case target of 2.82 and upper case target of 3.08 (from 1.56 in 2006);
- Other renewable heat utilisation: lower case target of 6.55 and upper case target of 7.64 (from 7.1 in 2006);
