Project for Developing Small and Medium-sized Hydro Power Plants

This project promotes the development of hydroelectric power plants. The initial investment development costs are high, which results in relatively higher unit generation costs when compared to other power sources. Prior to 1999, METI subsidised construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants by public electric power operators. Operational activities were transferred to NEDO in 1999.
