NEMO 2 - RD&D Programme

The NEMO 2 programme explored the technological and economic potential of using new energy systems in arctic conditions with a focus on solar and wind energy. In addition to R&D, the demonstration of new applications was an essential part of the programmes content. The programme was active between 1993 and 1998 with a total funding of 130 million Finnish markka, which corresponds to around 20 million EUR. In 1995, national research actives were passed from NEMO 2 to the Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation that still exists today.
