Energy Labelling for New Buildings

Last updated: 28 November 2019
Provisions in the UK's revised Building Regulations 2000 required house builders to visually display energy ratings of new homes as well as to notify the building control body of performance. The new energy labelling requirement came into force on 1 January 2001. From June 2006 these requirements were superseded when all houses and apartments sold in the UK were required to be issued with energy efficiency ratings in the form of Energy Performance Certificates, rating efficiency between A and G (least efficient) in compliance with the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
