Efficient Use of Energy and Energy Saving

The programme was launched on 1st February 2011 and is open until the full budget absorption. It offers citizens incentives to carry out interventions, aimed at improving their houses energy efficiency. Due to the economic crisis, in May 2011 and March 2012, the programme conditions have been improved in order to cover more citizens. The programme is currently underway and includes the following: - improvement of thermal insulation of building shell; - replacement of window/door glazing and frame of low energy performance;- replacement of low energy performance heating oil boilers with new high energy performance ones or natural gas systems or systems using Renewable Energy Resources;- installation of solar water heaters. The programme "EXOIKONOMO at home" is implemented through the Operational Programmes "Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship € and "Environment and sustainable development €, co-funded by the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), 2007 2013. The programme "EXOIKONOMO at home" consists of:(a) the Direct payments programme (grants and inspection costs): 155 m EUR (public funding)(b) The Fund "EXOIKONOMO at home € (loans, management costs and rate subsidies): 241 m EUR public funding and 380 m EUR contribution of banks (1:2).
