Incandescent Light Bulb Ban Act of 2008

Source: International Energy Agency
Last updated: 5 November 2017
This policy prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale, and use of incandescent light bulbs by 1 January 2011. It also sets a Minimum Energy Performance Standard of 15 lumens per watt for all remaining lighting technologies, to be adjusted every three (3) years in consultation with manufacturers, importers, consumers, and other stakeholders. It exempts use for research provided they acquire a certificate of exemption from the Department of Science and Technology. ADB agreed to finance part of a $46 million project to distribute over 10 million compact fluorescent light bulbs and change most traffic lights to LEDs (https://www.adb.org/news/philippines-phasing-out-incandescent-bulbs-cut-...)
