Challenge Programs
Challenge programs are R&D initiatives focused on high-risk, high-reward research in selected priority areas, such as materials for clean fuels, low-carbon built environments, and critical battery materials. These programs unite researchers and facilities from across the National Research Council of Canada (NRC)'s 14 research centers, along with academic and industrial partners. The program offers R&D grants and networking opportunities, with the Government of Canada providing $150 million over five years, and an ongoing $30 million per year to support NRC researchers and their innovative partners in multi-party R&D programs.
