Regulation 2019/1242 setting CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles

This regulation aims at setting CO2 emissions performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles.

In 2024, the regulation got amended to align with the raise in ambition of the EU climate strategies with the following milestones: 

• 15% reduction compared to 2019 levels for the 2025-2029 period; 
• 45% reduction compared to 2019 levels for the 2030-2034 period; 
• 65% reduction compared to 2019 levels for the 2035-2039 period; 
• 90% reduction compared to 2019 levels by 2040 onwards.
