The National Energy Conservation Programme has been offering energy efficiency grants to households each year for the last 6 years.
In 2009, five different types of energy efficiency improvements are subsidised as part of the programme, each with a different subsidy intensity (SI), that is the percentage of the overall investment that is subsidised by the state. Included in the investment subsidies are small-scale renewable energies. Use of renewable energy (biomass, geothermal energy, wind, waste, solar collectors and Photovoltaic) for generating heat and/or electricity qualifies for an SI of 25%, up to a maximum per dwelling of HUF1 million.
