Law No.23579 prohibiting oil and natural gas exploration and exploitation

In February 2023, a bill was presented to members of the Parliament in order to prohibit oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Costa Rica. Permits or concessions for the exploration or exploitation of oil and gas may not be authorized to align with its commitment to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
