Royal Decree 732/2019 - Technical Building Code

Last updated: 8 April 2024

The Technical Building Code (CTE) sets energy efficiency targets for buildings, which vary depending on the building's use and location. New residential buildings in warm climates must meet a max energy consumption limit of 30 kWh/m2 per year, while non-residential buildings must meet a limit of 50 kWh/m2 per year. It also includes requirements for space heating, space cooling, water heating, ventilation, humidity control and lighting, and a minimum contribution of thermal renewable energy sources.
