Israeli Standard for Green Building (No. 5281)

Last updated: 30 April 2024

Under the Green Building Code, new buildings in Tel Aviv are required to have an EPI (Energy performance index) that is 25% lower than the baseline EPI for that building type, as defined by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. In addition, the Green Building Code requires that all new buildings in Tel Aviv be designed to be "green roofs ready", meaning that they are suitable for the installation of vegetation or other greenery on the roof to improve energy efficiency and reduce the urban heat island effect.
