United Arab Emirates - India Trade Agreement

The United Arab Emirates-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force in 2022. It removes 80% of border tariffs between the two countries, and provides for the gradual elimination of all border tariffs over a 10 year period, notably for the following products:

  • Iron and Steel
  • Articles of Iron and Steel
  •  Nickel and articles thereof 
  •  Aluminium and articles thereof 
  •  Fertilisers 

Its rules of origin state the following conditions for goods to benefit from preferential tariff treatment:

  • Final manufacturing should be done in India or in the UAE
  • If the non-originating material do not meet the change in tariff classification, the total value of non-originating material should not exceed 10% of the Free on Board (FOB) or Ex-works product price.
