Egypt-Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) FTA

The Free Trade Agreement between Egypt and MERCOSUR countries entered into force in 2017.  It provides for the reduction of import tariffs, notably for 

  • Waste and scrap of tinned iron or steel
  • Alloy Steel
  • Cathodes
  • Nickel Alloys
  • Nickel Waste and scrap
  • Aluminium and Alumnium alloys
  • Generators
  • Motors
  • Primary Batteries
  • Alkaline cells
  • Battery carbons


Rules of origin restrict preferential tariff treatment to goods wholly obtained in one of the signatory countries, or those which underwent sufficient change in tariff classification there; with a total value of non-originating material not exceeding  45% of the total price of the final product.
