ASEAN-China Free Trade Area

The Protocol between the People's Republic of China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on the Revision of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement entered into force in October 2019. 

It notably provides for the elimination of tariffs for:

  • Monocrystalline silicon rods, 
  • Rare earth metal ores and other metals, 
  • Motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons. 


Rules of origin apply. Goods are counted as originating from each country if

  • wholly produced or obtained in the country
  • having a regional value content (RVC) over a specific requirement 
  • meeting specific standards as defined in the Agreement which mainly cover changes in HS codes
