Germany's Strategy on China to Manage Dependency in Critical Sectors
Germany developed its first strategy on China focusing on key critical sectors including medicine, lithium batteries and critical minerals. While maintaining friendly trade and investment ties with China, Germany aims to reduce critical dependencies in critical sectors by diversifying its supply chains.
The Federal Government would be applying export control procedures to ensure that German products are not misused for human rights violations and internal repression in China. In addition, grants from the federal government for research and development projects with China might be limited.
