Auction scheme for large-scale solar PV

In March 2023, the Federal Council approved the amendments to the Energy Ordinance (OEne), facilitating the authorisation of large photovoltaic installations  of 150 kW or more and sets an incentive for them in the form of a one-off fee, which can cover up to 60% of investment costs. These incentives will apply until large PV installations reach a maximum annual production of 2 TWh at the national level. 

On 1 February 2023, one-off payments for large PV  systems were awarded for the first time via auction, in which 94 applicants received a one-off payment ranging from CHF 360 to CHF 640 per kilowatt (kW). This first round of auctions provided financial support for installations with a total capacity of 35 MW. The next auction will take place from April 17 to May 1, 2023.
