Extension of electricity price ceiling of BGN 250/MWh

The Bulgarian Government extended the compensation mechanism for non-residential electricity consumers and  electricity transmission (TSO) and distribution network operators (DSO) for the period of 1 October to 31 December 2022. Under the mechanism all non-residential electricity consumers will be compensated for the difference between the average monthly spot price for base load of the "day-ahead" segment of the Bulgarian Independent Electricity Exchange (IBEX) for the relevant month and the ceiling price of BGN 250/MWh. Approximately 633,000 users will benefit from the compensation.

The maximum amount of compensation for the network operators is calculated as the difference between the average monthly base load price of the "day-ahead" segment of IBEX and the estimated market price determined of BGN 421.08/MWh for the TSO and BGN 446.78/MWh for the DSO.
