Advanced Manufacturing Office: Industrial Distributed Energy

Last updated: 24 August 2021
The Industrial Distributed Energy activity of the U.S. Department of Energys Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) provides cost-shared support for collaborative R&D to accelerate the deployment, testing, and validation of novel distributed energy and combined heat and power (CHP) applications for industry. The portfolio includes R&D on advanced reciprocating engine systems (ARES), CHP technologies, as well as demonstrations of these technologies and integrated energy systems (IES). Distributed energy (DE) technologies consist primarily of energy generation and storage systems placed at or near the point of use. The use of DE technologies can lead to lower emissions and, particularly in combined heat and power (CHP) applications, to improved efficiency.
