The Australian Government launched a AUD 250 million programme in 2021 to deploy carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS) technologies at scale.

The CCUS Hubs and Technologies program looks to boost Australia’s CCUS capabilities by encouraging domestic and international research collaborations, and lowering the cost of technology adoption. The CCUS Hubs and Technologies program will support the roadmap's stretch goal of CO2 compression, transport and storage under AUD 20 per tonne. The program will complement the Clean Hydrogen Industrial Hubs program with potential CO2 storage sites in some priority hub locations.
