2022 Reduction of electricity tariffs

In an effort to cushion domestic consumers from the effects of the global energy crisis, the government of Kenya provided in January 2022 a specific financial assistance to the national utility Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), in which it has a majority stake. The financial support is earmarked to be passed on to households consumers through tariff regulation.
