Cabinet decree for the establishment of climate change committee Decree 15/2011
The decree establishes the climate change committee within the ministry of environment and defines its role. The duties of the committee include:
- following international agreements related to climate change and any related recommendations;
- proposing national action plans to limit GHG gases;
- verifying that all governmental and non-governmental institutions execute the commitments of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The committee is formed by representatives of different ministries, in addition to a representative of Qatar Petroleum and Qatar University.
The role of the committee members was amended in a minor way by Decree 37/2014. The representative of the ministry of foreign affairs became vice president.
