Labelling Programme Promoting Net Zero Energy Buildings
To enhance the scope of existing Building labelling Programme in India, the Shunya programme for Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and Net Positive Energy Buildings (NPEB) was launched in 2021. Buildings with an energy performance index (EPI) between 10 and 0 kWh/m2/year, will be awarded a Shunya Label, while buildings with an EPI below 0 kWh/m2/year will be awarded a Shunya+ label. The programme will encourage building owners and promoters to build energy efficient buildings and make further improvements to make them net zero or net positive energy.
