Last updated: 25 October 2021

As part of its Recovery and Resilience Plan, Estonia will dedicate EUR 15 million from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility to develop the skills necessary for green jobs. New training schemes will also be developed to ensure a smooth transition towards future labour demand following changes in the energy sector.

In particular, the Estonian government will support:

- labour mobility for personnel in the oil and shale sectors (EUR 5 million);

- in-service and vocational training in Ida-Viru county, where there are large deposits of shale oil (EUR 25 million);

- regional initiatives that enhance a fair transition, such as grassroot initiatives, promoting environmental awareness etc. (EUR 16.74 million).
