Green Deal: Sustainable batteries for a circular and climate neutral economy

Last updated: 29 March 2022

The Green Deal sustainable batteries plan is designed to make batteries more sustainable, high performing and sage along their entire life cycles. From 1, July 2024, only rechargeable industrial and electric vehicle batteries for which a carbon footprint declaration has been established, can be placed on the market. Mandatory requirements are imposed for all batteries imposed using responsibly resourcing materials with restricted use of hazardous substances, minimum content of recycled materials, carbon footprint, performance and durability and labelling.
