Industrial Assessment Centers

Last updated: 5 November 2017
Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs) provide eligible small- and medium-sized manufacturers with no-cost energy assessments. Additionally, the IACs serve as a training ground for the next-generation of industrial engineers. Assessments are performed by local teams of engineering faculty and students from 24 participating universities across the country. Each assessment involves an examination of potential savings from energy efficiency improvements, waste minimization and pollution prevention, and productivity improvement. Each assessment typically identifies about $55,000 in potential annual savings on average. Over 15,000 IAC assessments have been conducted. Over 16,000 assessments have been completed, identified savings are typically over $130,000 annually, with $50,000-worth of savings implemented in the 1st year.
