Registrations open for the IEA and Development Bank of Latin America’s Spanish-language online course on energy efficiency in buildings

This online, open and free course aims to prepare participants to successfully advance energy efficient construction and retrofits

The IEA and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) have just launched registrations for a massive online open course (MOOC) on energy efficiency in buildings in Spanish. This free course was first offered in English in November 2019. The updated version features new instructors, with all videos and course material now presented in Spanish.

The course consists of four modules and covers fundamental technical, design, policy and financial dimensions necessary to engage on the topic in a practical manner. It has a geographic focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, and will cover how building design can reduce energy waste, the benefits of saving energy, and the tools needed to deliver an efficient buildings sector. These include policies, codes and standards, data and indicators, and finance.

The approach is both cross-disciplinary and practical, applying foundational concepts to real-world examples from Latin America and the rest of the world. Anyone with an interest in the topic will benefit from the course: policymakers, architects, engineers, financial institutions, think tanks, university students and citizens.

On completion, participants in the course will have a solid understanding of the big picture as well as the tools to leverage their own expertise and interest in order to contribute to advancing energy efficiency in buildings.
