IEA Emergency Response Training course promotes energy security
In order to enhance IEA-APEC co-operation on energy security, the IEA has developed a Joint Programme on emergency preparedness for specialists from non-IEA APEC Economies and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).
This programme was approved at the APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting last June.
As the first step in the programme, the IEA held an Emergency Response Training (ERT) course at the IEA headquarters on 13-17 September 2010 to provide information and to examine IEA emergency response policies and practices, including emergency response data gathering and analysis. A site visit to Géosel-Manosque, a stockholding facility, was part of the programme. This five-day event was attended by 25 representatives from non-IEA APEC economies and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).
