What are you allowed to do with IEA material, data or products?
Any material made available on the IEA website may be saved and/or printed but should only be used according to our terms and conditions or the Notice for CC-licensed content and the permissions of the relevant purchased licence (if applicable). Please carefully read the IEA's Terms and Conditions and Notice for CC-licensed content for a full explanation of how you can use IEA material, including any CC-licensed content.
Please contact:
- rights@iea.org if your intended use is not permitted under our terms and conditions or the Notice for CC-licensed content; and
- compliance@iea.org unless the relevant IEA material is CC-licensed content and your proposed usage is permitted under the Notice for CC-licensed content, if you wish to use more than an insubstantial amount of the IEA’s material in any type of modelling for the purpose of creating derived data or derived products, and any services to distribute or display such derived products where such derived products or services are regular and/or revenue-generating. For this type of usage, you may need to enter into a Licence Agreement with the IEA and pay a fee.

What are you allowed to do with a single user licence for a product or service?
The single user licence only permits one user to access and use the material: this user needs to be registered on the licence and will be able to download the material on several devices, as many items as needed. The single user is permitted to store one hard copy only of non-data purchased products in the relevant Customer’s library and/or circulate that hard copy amongst other individuals working at the Customer’s place of business. The single user is not allowed to share data, even offline, even within the same team.
If several users need access to the material, please purchase the licence corresponding to that number of users (you can request an upgrade of your licence by clicking on "Upgrade" from your licence details page.)

Written permission to reproduce IEA material
External requests for prior written permission to use IEA material beyond the uses permitted in the general IEA Terms and Conditions or Notice for CC-licensed content should be sent to our legal department via rights@iea.org.
As a general rule, government officials from IEA Member countries are allowed to access, store, download, reproduce and/or distribute the material for their government’s internal purposes only. Otherwise, the permitted usage of IEA material by companies and individuals is set out in the IEA’s Terms and Conditions or the Notice for CC-licensed content, as applicable.
Depending on the nature, scope, context and purposes of the requested usage, our legal department may provide consent via email and merely request that the IEA be sourced or that it be made clear that IEA material has been modified. Alternatively, the IEA may ask you to enter into a licence agreement that defines the permitted use and associated conditions and covers other issues such as liability, licence duration, dispute resolution and, in some cases, licence fees.
