Paris Time Webinar

IEA-ICAP-KAS Carbon Pricing Dialogue - Mitigation strategies and carbon pricing in the Asia-Pacific

Webinar recording

Background information

The International Energy Agency (IEA) in collaboration with the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change (KAS RECAP) are hosting a public webinar on mitigation strategies and carbon pricing in the Asia-Pacific.

Carbon pricing policies play a critical role in delivering on the goals of the Paris Agreement and stabilizing global temperatures. On the road to meeting their respective climate targets, over twenty jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region are in various stages of establishing their own carbon pricing initiatives, ranging from emissions trading systems to carbon taxes. 2020 was initially set to be the year that signatories concluded the first phase – and began the second phase – of the Paris Agreement by revising and increasing the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions.

With Glasgow COP26 postponed until next year and in the context of ongoing global COVID-19 recovery efforts, this workshop provides a space for policymakers and experts from the Asia Pacific to share the latest updates on the role of carbon pricing in accelerating climate ambition, and other mitigation strategies in the region.
