IEA/EPE Webinar 3: The Mexican case, capacity market and long-term auctions

Since joining the International Energy Agency (IEA) as an association country in 2017, collaboration and joint work between Brazil and the IEA has increased considerably. Collaboration on power sector topics intensified in 2020 to become one of the key components of the IEA-Brazil Programme of Work, beginning with a series of discussions between IEA experts and Brazilian government representatives on the implementation of the power modernization initiatives.

These conversations led to a series of webinars on adequacy and reliability mechanisms to promote cross-learning between experts from IEA and EPE.

  • Webinars 1&2: Overview of the Colombian model and the conceptual background of reliability mechanisms
  • Webinars 3&4: The Mexican case, capacity market and long-term auctions
  • Webinar 5: Historical evolution and the current situation of electricity market design in Brazil
  • Webinar 6&7: Brazilian proposals for the reliability mechanisms and capacity markets

The organisation of this event was made possible through the Clean Energy Transitions in Emerging Economies programme, which received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 952363.
