Critical Minerals Outlook 2024 - Launch webinar
Background information
This webinar will present the key findings of Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2024, published on 17 May 2023. The report offers medium- and long-term outlooks for the demand and supply of key energy transition minerals such as lithium, copper, nickel, cobalt, graphite and rare earth elements. It provides a snapshot of industry developments in 2023 and early 2024, updating the IEA’s inaugural review of the market last year and our landmark 2021 report.
Based on detailed project-by-project analysis, the report assesses how today's geographical concentration evolves over time, for both mining and refining, and how expected supply compares with primary supply requirements in climate-driven scenarios. The latest Outlook also features a first-of-its-kind risk assessment for selected energy transition minerals, scrutinising four key dimensions: supply risks, geopolitical risks, barriers to responding to supply disruptions, and exposure to environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate risks.
The latest Outlook is accompanied by an updated version of the IEA’s Critical Minerals Data Explorer, an interactive online tool that allows users to explore the latest projections. Both form part of the Agency’s expanding work on critical minerals, as requested by governments.
