CO2 Emissions in 2023 and Clean Energy Market Monitor
Background information
CO2 Emissions in 2023 brings together the IEA’s latest analysis, combining the Agency’s estimates of CO2 emissions from all energy combustion and industrial processes. It also provides emissions data and analysis by fuel and region, including for major emitters in 2023, covering advanced, emerging and developing economies.
Alongside the CO2 analysis, the IEA is launching its inaugural Clean Energy Market Monitor, the first report in a new series that provides timely tracking of clean energy deployment for a select group of technologies and outlines the implications for global energy markets more broadly.
Following the COP28 agreement to transition away from fossil fuels and triple renewable power capacity, the Clean Energy Market Monitor covers developments across six key technologies: solar PV, wind, nuclear, electric cars, heat pumps and hydrogen electrolysers.
