Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) 2011-2015

Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) 2011-2015 is a comprehensive strategy to improve economic condition of Ethiopia. The major objective for the energy sector, as stipulated in the GTP, is to provide sufficient and reliable power sources at all time for economic and social development as well as for irrigation activities, to accelerate and complete the construction of the ongoing hydropower electric generation projects.

Renewable Energy Target:

To increase the generating renewable energy capacity from 2000 MW to 8 GW – 10 GW by the end of 2015.
