Austrian Recovery & Resilience Plan / 4. Just recovery / Resilient municipalities

Last updated: 11 March 2022

The Austrian Development and Resilience Plan uses a set of measures designed to tackle the Covid-related economic crisis and accelerate growth, job creation, and economic and social resilience through supporting the green and digital transition.

The plan is divided into four pillars. The fourth pillar is “Just Recovery” (Gerechter Aufbau) which aims to support resilient municipalities.

This target plans to implement a Soil Protection Strategy. It targets thermal building renovation in town centers, façade greening, connections to highly efficient district heating systems, and brownfield recycling.

Further, two investments are included in the Just Transition:

- Climate-friendly town centers (EUR 60 million, of which EUR 50 million from EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF)

- Investment in the implementation of Community Nursing (EUR 54.2 million)
