Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) - 2020 update
In its first conditional NDC, Chile was to reduce CO2 emissions per GDP unit by up to 30-45% below 2007 levels by 2030. In its updated NDC presented in April 2020, Chile strengthened the mitigation target, converting it to an unconditional absolute target, with the goal of peaking emissions in 2025.
The updated NDC also incorporates components on oceans, circular economy, forests, peat bogs and ecosystems, as well as a social pillar on ”just transition” and sustainable development goals (SDGs), which consider criteria such as gender equity and equality, water safety, and nature-based solutions (NBS).
